Japanese Canadians Survivors Health & Wellness Fund

The Japanese Canadian Survivors Health & Wellness Fund (JCSHWF) is a program created to distribute health support grants to assist individual Survivors with their health care needs. Survivors will be assisted by Outreach Workers across Canada, who will facilitate the online submission of applications when the application portal opens on this website.

JCSHWF is overseen by a Canada-wide, regionally representative Board called the Japanese Canadian Survivors Health & Wellness Fund Society that includes community members who work with seniors:

President: Cathy Makihara (Nikkei Seniors Health Care & Housing Society | Burnaby, BC)
Ruth Coles (President Nikkei Seniors Health Care & Housing Society | Burnaby, BC)
Kelvin Higo (Steveston Seniors | Richmond, BC)
David Iwaasa (Tonari Gumi | Vancouver, BC),
Susan Matsumoto (Calgary Japanese Community Association | Calgary, Alberta),
Marlene Mori (Seniors Horizons Club of the Japanese Cultural Association of Manitoba | Winnipeg, Manitoba)
Ann Ashley (Co-Chair Momiji Health Care Society | Toronto, Ontario)
Shelley-Ann Yamashita (Momiji Health Care Society | Toronto, Ontario).

Joanne Miyazaki: Executive Director

Japanese Canadian Legacies are initiatives that honour our elders past and present. We are grateful to be doing this work on the ancestral lands of the Coast Salish peoples.
