Intergenerational Wellness Intake 2 Recipients

Thank you to the many families, groups and organizations from across the country who applied in this round. We were deeply moved by the project applications, many of which spoke to the ongoing need for intergenerational healing, collaboration, and dialogue. In reaching across generations we form connections that build memory, strength, and resilience.  We owe a deep thanks to the Assessment Team who juried the applications for Intake 2, ensuring that the original purpose of this stream was kept front and centre. The team was made up of Lucy Komori, Jan Nobuto, Eiko Eby, Nicola Koyanagi, Carley Okamura, and Taya Mikado. Thanks also to the Intergenerational Wellness Advisory Team made up of Lucy Komori, Nicola Koyanagi, Jeff Masuda, Carley Okamura, and Leanne Toshiko Simpson.

My husband & I look forward to exploring with our daughter, the internment history of our families.  Conversation regarding this was shut down as we were growing up.  You are providing all of us with the opportunity to “fill in some on the blanks”.

Thank you very much for accepting our application. It is very important for myself and my brothers to remember the hardships that our grandparents and our father and mother experienced  during this difficult period of Canadian history. It is even more important that our children, grandchildren and future generations understand where they came from and the sacrifices that were made so they could live in freedom and in peace.
