Intergenerational Wellness application deadline had been extended to December 15

Applications close December 15, 2023
Results out January 30, 2024

Intergenerational Wellness serves families and groups, providing funding to heal the intergenerational impacts that BC government actions in the 1940s had on the Japanese Canadian community. There are three categories of funding:

1) Family Healing and Sharing up to $5,000

2) Seniors Intergenerational Group Wellness up to $10,000

3) Intergenerational Group Gatherings up to $40,000

Family Healing and Sharing in particular is designed to facilitate intergenerational healing within families, promoting activities that bring multiple generations together.

Activities can include, but are not limited to, self-published books, self-made art projects, digital scrapbooks, reflective storytelling, oral histories, family genealogy, internment camp tours, family counselling. Because not everyone has the skills to create these types of activities without help, eligible project costs may include honoraria for people outside the family who provide specialized assistance, materials and supplies.

The deadline for applications has been extended to allow families and organizations to prepare their documentation and firm up plans for this important stream. Note that the Family Sharing and Healing project completion date has also been extended to April 30, 2025

Japanese Canadian Legacies are initiatives that honour our elders past and present. We are grateful to be doing this work on the ancestral lands of the Coast Salish peoples.
