The Community Projects stream was established to support a range of initiatives benefiting Japanese Canadians and celebrating Japanese culture in Canada. Community Projects was open to Japanese Canadian Organizations, Non-Japanese Canadian Organizations. and Unincorporated Japanese Canadian Groups to create community-led projects that promote Japanese or Japanese Canadian culture or enable Japanese Canadians to connect with one another, with their culture(s) and/or identity. While the intake periods have now concluded and we are no longer accepting applications, the profound impact of these initiatives continues to be felt across our community.

Legacy Community Projects offer Japanese Canadian Organizations and Non-Japanese Canadian Organizations the opportunity to create tangible legacy projects that permanently share or create knowledge and help tell the story of the pre-war, wartime, and postwar experiences of Japanese Canadians from BC. These projects deliver outputs that may be experienced inside and outside of the Japanese Canadian community.
